It’s here! The Now Back To GI Joe – Official trailer! Enjoy!
In their relentless mission to eliminate the Cobra threat across the globe, the Joes have intercepted secret Cobra Intel hinting at their whereabouts. General Hawk has deployed a top GI Joe member to recon those locales. The following report is highly classified. Here are Agent Katzenbogen’s (aka Bazooka) findings.
Dear General Hawk, I went ta Disneyland like ya told me to looking for Cobra and here I am at the entrance. No signs of Cobra yet, but there was sort of electrical interference as the camera was malfunctioning and it would not focus. Oh well.
Next stop Main Street. I walked around a bit but didn’t see nothin’ I thought I saw Destro for a sec, but it turned out to be some kid with a silver Mylar balloon. Had to use petty cash for a new balloon for the kid. Sorry!
Then I decided to take a look near “It’s a small world just in case ol Chrome Dome was in the area, Got a hat while I was there, ya know, cause of the sun. Honest.
Then I looked in “It’s a small world a couple of times but once again no sign of Cobra
I thought for sure I’d hit pay dirt on “Big Thunder Mountain” but got a big ol’ Goose egg.
I figured I’d check for..uh…HISS Tanks here. Yeah that’s it! HISS Tanks.
Searching for Cobra is though work! I think I’ll take a break for just a seco….zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Report complete. No further intel available.
Currently working on a fun new semi-regular feature that will have it’s first installment posted on Monday night along with a new Figure Profile. Stay tuned!
Hey Everybody!
It’s been a great week on Ebay and I’m picking up a few figures that are sure to be excellent additions to the collection but I’m also excited because I also managed to pick a vehicle! So far, I’ve managed to resist buying vehicles if only for simplicity sake, as I’d like the blog to focus mainly on figures for the time being but while doing my weekly Ebay figure hunting for the weekly figure profile, I ran across an auction for an AWE striker complete with blueprint along with Crankcase and file card for an excellent price so I couldn’t pass it up. So look for the very first vehicle profile coming soon!
In other news, New O-rings should be coming in soon so I’m going to be repairing a few figures and I’ll be posting a complete review of the process. As always, look for the weekly figure profile to be posted tomorrow. See ya then!
Beside collecting Vintage Joes, I’m also a big fan of the high end GI Joe pieces produced by the talented crew at Sideshow Collectibles so you might see them make a small cameo here and there. I took this shot the day I received my vintage Beachhead (which I plan to profile next week) simply entitled it “Whoa! I grow up to be THAT guy!?” Enjoy.
As I stated in my very first post to the blog, I’ve been a Joe fan for most of my existence and have collected GI Joe on and off. My Joe collecting bug re-emerged when Sideshow collectibles got the license to make high end Joes, but the bug reached a fever pitch when the 25th Anniversary figures arrived. Modern, highly articulated, versions of my beloved childhood Joes AND they where on vintage style card!? are you kidding me!? Such was my excitement that I started getting every single carded, Comic pack, vehicle and exclusive I could get my hands on. Pretty soon I was sitting on a mountain of GI Joe product thanks to toy runs to Wal-mart, Toys R Us, and Targets that soon became too many to count.
Then one day it hit me. As amazing as all these new version of old favorites were, there was still an…I guess “empty” feeling is the correct term? At this point in my collecting, I tend to leave stuff sealed so as to appreciate the aesthetic of the packaged figure along with the artwork which I really enjoy looking at. So while these toys were great to look at, I never grew attachment to them the way I was attached to my original figures that got put through their paces in countless backyard battles against Cobra. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, when I decided to start my vintage collection and received my first “new” vintage figure. There it was. A feeling of comfortable joy, An excitement that harkened back to when I was a kid. There was a wonderful familiarity to these “primitive” figures. I’m enjoying these vintage figures so much so that I’m beginning to question whether I should be buying modern figures at all. Sure the modern figures are chock-full of articulation and accessories but they lack the fondness that the vintage figures have in spades and to be perfectly honest, I feel like I’m “double dipping”. Perfect example, do I really want to drop upwards of 400$ for a carded 25th Anniversary Con exclusive Dail-Tone when I can go buy the original figure loose and in great condition for around 20$ shipped?
So for now, the modern toys go on the back burner. But you can bet your carded vintage Snake Eyes though that if I run across a modern 30th Anniversary Sci-Fi, Lifeline, or Airtight – they will be purchased without hesitation. I’m biased not stupid.
One of my main objectives with writing this blog is to inform. To that end I present to you the following:
Yup, rusty screws. I purchased this figure off Ebay in an auction that had a less than honest description and came missing an accessory even though the auction claimed “100% complete” but I only paid 7$ for the figure so I’m not going to complain too much. But the figure is not a total loss and will serve as a good learning experience as I will be using him to experiment on. First fix will be the leg screws. I ordered a bag of the correct size screws from gijoeheaven.com and as soon as I get them will post on how the fix goes, so be sure to be on the lookout for part II sometime this week hopefully.
