A few weeks back I wrote that I had just won an eBay auction for a couple of figures and a vehicle which I was really excited about because I love sharing new acquisitions with you guys. Everything on the auction listing looked good and the pictures provided didn’t show too much wear and tear on the items which boosted my excitement even more. The items took a little longer than expected to get here but I’m happy to report that they finally arrived to day and it was a mixed bag of emotions. I was elated that the items had arrived but once I opened the box I was dismayed at the amount of wear and tear the figures and especially the AWE Striker had especially since then auction listed these items in “excellent condition” . Here are a few pics
As you can see, there’s a lot of dirt, dust and grim which are easy fixes but there’s a few pieces that will need to be replaced like this:
A chewed up antenna. The top mounted cannon is also really worn so that will also get the heave-ho. The labels are also a total loss as half of them fell out as soon as I pulled out the vehicle out the ziplock bag in which it came, however I did find a site ( Cobrastickers.com )that sells reproduction label sheets and will be ordering a set to get this AWE Striker back into tip top shape. Surprisingly Crankcase came complete and in excellent condition which I was really happy about. The other two figures in the lot also need some work but I’m certain they’ll clean up really well. Overall, I’m not too disappointed because I’m really happy that I have added these to my collection and admittedly they’ll take some work to make the, shine but then again – that’s the whole point of this blog!
I’m going to be posting a Vehicle Profile as soon as I’m done with this vehicle and I’m certain it’s going to turn into a gem. See ya soon!
